S.E.N.S. (Sound, Earth, Nature, Spirit) is a Japanese New Age instrumental group formed in 1988 by Akihiko Fukaura and Yukari Katsuki. Inspired by nature, their music blends serene, dynamic, and emotional tones, reflecting the harmony between humanity, the universe, and all things.

They debuted with music for NHK’s The Silk Road of the Sea. Their first three albums sparked a New Age wave in Japan and across Asia and Europe. In 1989, their soundtrack for A City of Sadness won the Grand Prix at the Venice International Film Festival. Subsequent albums like Furikaereba Yatsu Ga Iru, Asian Blue, and notably Wish (1998, OST for Kamisama, Mo Sukoshi Dake) earned critical acclaim and awards. Tomei na Ongaku (Transparent Music) is praised as "healing music" for its ability to soothe everyday stresses.

With over 45 albums, S.E.N.S. remains a veteran presence in Japanese music, contributing to films, anime (e.g., xxxHolic), and TV. Despite limited online information, their music continues to resonate globally, with no signs of stopping their creative journey.

S.E.N.S. (神思者) là tên viết tắt của Sound Earth Nature Spirit. Đối với họ thiên nhiên là cảm hứng âm nhạc đồng thời là tín ngưỡng tôn giáo của họ.
Đây là một nhóm nhạc NewAge của Nhật. S.E.N.S được thành lập vào năm 1988 bao gồm 2 thành viên Akihiko Fukaura và Yukari Katsuki, ban đầu họ sáng tác nhạc cho chương trình "the Silk Road of the sea" vào năm 1988 của đài truyền hình NHK. 3 album đầu tiên đã tạo ra một làn sóng nhạc newage mới không chỉ ở Nhật mà còn ở rất nhiều quốc gia trên thế giới. Có 1 điều lạ là những thông tin về S.E.N.S mà tôi tìm thấy được trên internet rất ít, chủ yếu ở các trang web tiếng Hàn.

Vào năm 1989, họ tiếp tục cho ra album thứ 5 của mình, đây là một album soundtrack cho phim "A CITY OF SADNESS" (bộ phim này đã đoạt giải Gran Prix tại Liên hoan phim quốc tế Venezia cùng năm).

Các năm sau đó họ phát hành liên tục nhiều album và hầu như album nào ra đời cũng đều đoạt các giải thưởng âm nhạc trong nước và quốc tế, điển hình như "Furikaereba Yatsu Ga Iru" (Turn Around and That Guy'll Be There), "Asian Blue",...

Nhạc của S.E.N.S chủ yếu về thiên nhiên đúng như tên gọi, nó mang một phong cách khá mới lạ, lúc trầm lúc bổng, lúc lại du dương, lúc lại xoáy vào những nỗi buồn, lúc lại nói về sự giao hòa giữa đất trời, về vũ trụ, vạn vật.

Năm 1998, họ cho ra đời album "Wish", những bài hát trong album này được lấy làm OST cho bộ phim "Kamisama, Mo Sukoshi Dake" (God, Just a Little More) (có sự góp mặt của diễn viên Kim Thành Vũ), giới chuyên môn nhận xét rằng, album này đã góp phần không nhỏ cho sự thành công của bộ phim.

Tiếp theo sự thành công của "Wish", họ tiếp tục cho ra đời 2 Album "Tomei na Ongaku" (Transparent Music), đây là sự kết hợp của nhiều cảm xúc buồn, vui, giận dữ. Nghe "Tomei na Ongaku", ta như cảm thấy những lo toan của cuộc sống hằng ngày tan biến, vì vậy người ta còn gọi đây là "healing music".

Hiện nay, S.E.N.S đã phát hành rất nhiều album (Trên 45 Albums) và vẫn là 1 trong những nhóm nhạc thuộc hàng lão làng trong nền âm nhạc Nhật Bản, và cho đến nay vẫn chưa có dấu hiệu gì về việc họ sẽ ngừng sáng tác.
