Về Quê Vol.2 by the Vietnam Melody Ensemble is a graceful and heartfelt instrumental album that pays tribute to the cultural and emotional depth of Vietnamese folk and contemporary music. With eight beautifully arranged tracks, this 2007 release offers a meditative sonic journey back to the heartland of Vietnam—its countryside, lullabies, and poetic traditions.

Opening with An Thuyên’s Ca Dao Em Và Tôi, the album immediately sets a tone of nostalgia and longing, drawing listeners into the familiar cadence of Vietnamese lyrical folk poetry. Trịnh Công Sơn’s contributions, Ru Em Từng Ngón Xuân Nồng and Ca Dao Mẹ, are given a tender, almost sacred treatment, bringing out the spiritual essence of his songwriting without the use of words. The absence of vocals allows the emotion to flow purely through the instrumental interpretations.

Traditional pieces like Ru Con (Southern lullaby) and Se Chỉ Luồn Kim (Northern folk song) are handled with respect and finesse, blending traditional instruments like the đàn tranh, sáo trúc, and đàn bầu with gentle modern arrangements. These tracks capture the softness and storytelling quality of Vietnamese folk music while maintaining a polished, contemporary production.

Dạ Khúc and Nhớ Huế, both composed by Bá Quế, add personal and regional flair to the album, evoking the serene beauty of central Vietnam, especially the poetic city of Huế. Chị Tôi by Trọng Đài closes the experience with a mix of melancholy and reverence, a tribute to familial love and memory.

Altogether, Về Quê Vol.2 is a deeply moving instrumental collection, ideal for anyone seeking a peaceful, emotional connection to Vietnamese roots, culture, and countryside through the universal language of
