Himekami is a Japanese new-age musical project founded in 1980 by composer Yoshiaki Hoshi. Originally called Himekami Sensation (姫神せんせいしょん), the group changed its name to Himekami in 1984. Inspired by the natural beauty of Mount Himekami in Iwate Prefecture, their music blends traditional Japanese sounds with modern synthesizers, creating calm and atmospheric melodies.

After Yoshiaki Hoshi passed away in 2004, his son Yoshiki Hoshi took over the project, continuing his father’s legacy. Today, Himekami features Yoshiki on synthesizer along with vocalists Wakako Nakajima, Tomoko Fujii, Junko Shiwa, and Yoriko Sano. The group’s music continues to reach international audiences, with several albums released in North America through Higher Octave Music.
