A Movingly Love Story (千年唐姬), the fifth volume in the “Romantic New Century Music – True Love Series,” is a deeply emotional and cinematic instrumental album by Taiwanese composer and producer Wang Jun-xiong (王俊雄). Released in December 2004 by Asia Records and Diting Culture, the album blends New Age aesthetics with Chinese musical sensibilities, crafting a romantic soundscape filled with longing, beauty, and nostalgia.
The album opens with “To Be Innocent Playmates,” a gentle and lyrical piece that evokes the innocence of childhood love, setting a sentimental tone for the journey ahead. Tracks like “Attractive and Well Poised” and “Dancing For Lover” use soft piano melodies, delicate strings, and traditional Asian instrumentation to paint scenes of graceful femininity and courtship.
Vocals by Du Jun-hui and Man Shu-wen on songs like “Finding You” and “Where Are You” add an emotional dimension, blending seamlessly with the instrumental tracks. These vocal moments are not overpowering but rather serve as heartfelt highlights that reflect the inner thoughts of the characters in this imagined love story.
Wang Jun-xiong’s production is both refined and evocative, using sweeping orchestral arrangements and subtle electronic textures to build atmosphere. “Heart Broken” and “Difficult to Tear Apart” are particularly poignant, with melancholic melodies that reflect sorrow and separation. The title track, “Moving Love Story,” closes the album with a dreamlike reprise of themes heard earlier, leaving listeners with a lingering sense of yearning.
A Movingly Love Story stands out for its narrative flow—each track feels like a chapter in an ancient tale of love and fate. Perfect for fans of Chinese New Age or romantic instrumental music, this album offers a timeless emotional experience.
